S.A.G.E. (Success through Access to Guidance and Experience)
Internship Program
Purpose:
The purpose of this program is to encourage a diverse group of outstanding UB undergraduate students who demonstrate that they have overcome a disadvantage or impediment to success in higher education to pursue graduate studies, to enter a career in Higher Education or another specific career field. SAGE interns are provided the unique opportunity to obtain a paid internship position, mentorship, networking and guidance related to their educational and career goals while they gain professional development skills and relatable work experience in their area of interest. Each SAGE intern participates up to 10 hours per week in an internship related to their educational and career goals and works with a supervisor who will act as a mentor. Students can receive a stipend for the academic year.
Eligibility:
- Junior or Senior Status (minimum 60 credits earned) before entering program
- Minimum 2.50 Cumulative GPA
- U.S. Citizenship / Permanent Resident
- Student must identify with an underrepresented student population (race, ethnicity, socio-economic status, disability status, and sexual identification)

Requirements:
- Completion of Application Packet and Interview
- Secure approved internship and complete internship contract
- Attend SAGE meetings and events
- Complete bi-weekly timesheets
- Maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA each semester in the program
- Participate in Planning Committee of at least one IDC program or event (e.g. Cultural Bazaar) per semester
- Attend two professional development activities/workshops per semester
- Participate in at least one SAGE group community service project per academic year
- Completion of end-of-semester evaluations and exit interview with SAGE Program Coordinator
Applications Process: Will be available Spring 2010 for the 2010-2011 academic year.
Acceptance to this program is based on the applicant’s expressed commitment and motivation to gain career related work experience, achievement history and academic potential.
